About Us

A Dallas native, Courtney Boswell MacDonald majored in Fashion & Communications at TCU and then worked on the corporate side at industry icons like Jeffrey New York, Jimmy Choo, and Neiman Marcus. After being inspired to teach high school math in inner-city Dallas and then completing a graduate degree in Education Policy at Vanderbilt University, she ended up at the Texas Capitol in Austin where she fought for public education reform and met her husband, Justin. Courtney still always had the dream of having her own boutique one day. Justin is an 8th generation Kerr County native and is the CEO of a multi-generational family real estate development company.

Courtney was thrilled to move to Justin’s hometown of Kerrville over 6 years ago to start their family in the idyllic Texas Hill Country and was fortunate enough to stay home with their daughter for over 4 years. However, when she heard the beloved Tomé Boutique was for sale after nearly 10 successful years in business, Courtney jumped at the opportunity and her dream of owning a store became a reality. C.J. Copeland’s was created as the next generation of the former boutique.

C.J. Copeland’s continues to carry the best lines that Tomè was known for, as well as fabulous new things that will appeal to an even broader Kerrville audience. For example, C.J. Copeland’s now carries clothing for children and even a few items for men. In addition to clothing, the store also offers an expanded selection of gifts, custom partyware, and home accents that epitomize Hill Country chic. Many of the products are either made in Texas or have a Texas connection, including their exclusive line of locally made soy candles. With C.J. Copeland’s “Low Country meets Hill Country” aesthetic, everyone in the family will find something perfect whether it’s for Hilton Head, Santa Fe, or any of the great places in between.

Both Courtney and Justin MacDonald bring their unique experiences to C.J. Copeland’s. Courtney brings a wealth of experience in strategic marketing, merchandising, and management. Justin’s business background and deep family ties to Kerr County help keep the store grounded in Hill Country traditions. Their daughter, Mary Kate, even “helps” by frequently rearranging merchandise in the store.
